“Kind of sucks never having money… But kinda cool to choose a dream”. – Yoshitomo Nara

For as long as she can remember, Melissa has had an interest in the Arts. She completed a multimedia traineeship with the South East Institute of TAFE in 1998, and after spending several years working as a graphic designer and lecturing in Digital Media at TAFE, Melissa moved to Sydney to pursue her passion for the moving image. Graduating from the Australian Film, Television & Radio School in 2002 with a Graduate Diploma in Digital Media, Melissa then found herself working as a freelance graphic designer, working on a number of print, film and television pieces. In 2004 Melissa moved to Adelaide where she worked as Marketing & Promotions Coordinator for the Media Resource Centre.

After a number of overseas adventures and four years of city living, Melissa was drawn back to Mount Gambier. Her passion for graphic design led her to open her own business “A Little Birdie Design Studio” where she specialised in eco-friendly wedding invitations. After 5 years in business A Little Birdie closed its doors when Melissa became a mumma bird. She now runs an Etsy store “Bilby & Bee”.

Having worked in various mediums such as print, digital media, film and television, Melissa has a great interest in experimenting with and merging art forms. Her passion for travel has taken her from Japan, to Europe, to Canada and in between, where she has been inspired by great masters and street artists alike. Melissa is also definitely inspired and motivated by her love for nature and conservation.
